Judith Lapple is founder and director of the Woodwind Summer Camp. She is currently Professor of Flute at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. where the camp is held. Mrs. Lapple was nominated for 'Who's Who Among America's College Teachers 2000and 2006. In December of 2003, Mrs. Lapple was honored, "For untiring work in preparing the young musicians of America", by the AmericanYouth Philharmonic Orchestras. Judith, also maintains a very large studio of private woodwind students. Her students have won many national competitions including, Bands of America, National Wind Ensemble, Music Teachers National Association, and American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. Her former students have been accepted to Duke University, Yale University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Eastman School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory ,Northwestern University, University of Michigan and Carnegie Mellon. In addition, Judith has appeared on the cover of Flute Talk national magazine. She has written several articles on Performance Anxiety.
In January 2008, Ms. Lapple ran sight reading seminars to help students recieve high scores in district band auditions. The result was overwhelming. Out of 33 students in the class, twenty nine won the audition this year, some students increasing their sight reading scores by seventy five percent.
One of Mrs. Lapple's youngest students is featured on youtube with the George Mason University Orchestra in Dec.2007.

The main focus of the camp is to increase sight reading skills. We also devote a great deal of time on how to take better auditons. We address performance anxiety and have several guest artists and master classes. The woodwind camp faculty members are outstanding. Our faculty have recieved degrees from Yale, Peabody, Cincinnati Conservatory, Howard University, Eastman School of Music and George Mason University.
